Going to a small school located outside of Orlando is a lot different than living and working in New York. For one, we don't have hot rock stars just walking around; they're usually chauffeured. So color me surprised when Fabrizio Moretti walked past me one evening. No idea who I'm talking about? He's the drummer of
The Strokes (an awesome band). Still doesn't ring a bell? He dated Drew Barrymore.
Anyway, I was tempted to go up to him and ask for an autograph but then I changed my mind...
I'm torn on the whole celeb privacy thing. On one hand, I feel really bad about approaching celebrities when they're not promoting something. They probably don't want to be bothered. I can't imagine what it must be like to have your life documented all the time. Some people get a little too excited, cross the line and then accidents happen. Robert Pattinson was
hit by a car because he was being stalked by screaming twilight fans!
On the other hand, I think "they have to expect it." Isn't it part of the whole fame thing? It does kind of annoy me when celebrities moan about how much their fans annoy them.Would they prefer it if no one cared who they were or what they did?
If you saw a celeb off-duty, would you approach him/her and ask for a picture/ autograph or would you let them continue on their merry way?
